[snacks] A tub of gelato
At Trattoria Cammillo one of the options for dessert is a bowl of three flavours of gelato from Vivoli, the gelato shop down the road from us - crema, limone and cioccolato.
Instead of ordering it at Cammillo, we go to Vivoli to buy a polystyrene tub of all three flavours to takeaway.
The man behind the counter asks how many people we are feeding gelato to. We say two. He holds up a small rectangular tub, says it will fit half a kilo of gelato, and will be enough for us.
He asks us to pick our flavours.
We go with the Cammillo trio, though I want to add riso, but only three flavours are allowed.
After the man has filled the tub with gelato, he gets a damp cloth to wipe away the sticky stains he's left on the side of the tub. He places a small sheet of plastic film on top of the gelato before fitting the lid onto the tub. He seals with the lid with a long line of Vivoli branded paper tape. He gives the tin another wipe before weighing it, placing it in a bag and sending us on our way to pay.
