Business of the village #3
Popped into the bakery for a couple of baps for lunchtime steak sandwiches. They had cheese scones. I sort of squealed with excitement, though I'm not really sure what the stupid noise I made was if I'm honest. The shopkeeper laughed at me and told me they make them every Thursday and Friday.
Then popped into the butcher for steaks. Asked the butcher to cut me a couple of steaks for steak sandwiches. He chose sirloin, and cut two nice thinnish steaks. Asked for four of his Olde Sussex sausages too. Told him the pork and sage snags I had yesterday were very good. He seemed pleased about that and told me he makes sausages every Thursday. Enjoyed seeing him go into his fridge off the back of the shop where strings of sausages were hanging alongside a dead pig. The butcher rattled off his flavours, which mostly seemed to be the names of surrounding areas. When he mentioned jalapeno I asked for two of those.
Lastly popped into the coffee shop. An oat flat white for me today. The first flat white I have had in months. I've been sticking to black coffee. The flat white tasted like it could be the best coffee I've ever had. That's probably just in my head, but gee it was good.
